Each year, three brothers, Samuel, Jeffrey and Michael Douglas visit their grandfather, Mori Tanaka, for the summer. Mori is highly skilled in ninjutsu, and for years he has trained the boys in his techniques. After an organized crime ring proves to be too much for the F.B.I., it's time for the three ninja brothers! Using their martial artistry, they team up to battle the crime ring and outwit some very persistent kidnappers! Three young brothers, who have been trained in ninja techniques from an early age, learn that they possess powers which evil crooks would like to control. When a kidnap is attempted, they must defend themselves using all their skills. Whenever I rent, I get a movie for my cousin who is about to turn 6 years old, so I figured he needed a little action flick of his own that was appropriate for kids. I picked up 3 Ninjas and watched it with him, yes there are some major problems with this movie. The grandfather is Japanese and the three boys are completely white. If this was an adult movie, I would definitely be questioning the actual threat of a mob boss who hires goons who say nothing but "Dude!" and are clearly stoned. It has it's very cheesy and unrealistic moments about the dad and his job.

But as a kid's movie I thought it was a pretty good idea because it had humor that would fit their liking. It has good morals and a happy ending. I'm judging this movie as a kid's flick because otherwise I would do nothing but bash, so to IMDb users think about the genre this film is.

5/10 This is a very good movie. I enjoyed watching it. I even taped it. I can watch this movie over and over again. This movie may have some mild violence, but it teaches children many lessons. This movie is also funny and has alot of martial arts action. A must see movie. If you haven't seen it, I suggest seeing it some time. It really is a very good movie. The fight sequences are well handled, the three leads are pleasant (and quite good, it seems, at the martial arts) and the violence is bloodless and amusing, with all kinds of cartoon sound effects thrown in to soften the chop-socky violence. If the audience at a sold-out Saturday afternoon showing I attended is any indication, 3 Ninjas delivers the promised action-packed, empty-headed goods. As long as your age is still in the single digits, that is. [10 Aug 1992, p.C6]
